Fighting Malnutrition .

Our priority under the nutrition response is the provision of life-saving treatment services targeting children under five years, pregnant and lactating women as the most vulnerable groups to acute malnutrition due to their increased biological and physiological needs. Prevention activities are incorporated in the response to reduce incidence of acute malnutrition and promote good health.CIDO focuses on management of severe and acute malnutrition among children under five years through preventive and curative services of moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) and Severe acute Malnutrition (SAM) at OTP sites and stabilization centers . Since 2009 14, 466 children-boys and girls under 5 treated with SAM, 800 children provided with MAM services 2 Static nutrition sites established in Akobo County . A total of 9400 pregnant and lactating women have been reached with MAM services while 76 community Nutrition volunteers have been trained community management of Malnutrition . A total of 140 members have been identified and trained on Infant and Young children feeding ( IYCF). Right to Grow is a five year project-(2021-2025) designed to influence nutrition outcomes through advocacy, behaviour change communication and local services. The teams work closely with mother to mother support groups to promote nutrition -sensitive actions like kitchen gardening and good hygiene practices .CIDO and other consortium partners have managed to lobby for the enaction of a national nutrition policy in south sudan, a milestone that will change national priorities in favour of health& nutrition budgetary allocations.
